Apple Pie Smoothie

Tried of drinking the same green smoothie everyday and a new twist to your morning breakfast. Here’s one of my favorite smoothie recipe. The smoothie itself has the perfect amount of sweetness, and the tiny addition of cinnamon gives it a spicy kick. It’s an apple pie but in a smoothie. And the best thing is you don’t have to wait for an hour for it to bake!

Apple Pie Smoothie

Ingredients

 

1 scoop vanilla protein powder

1 cup chopped raw apple

2 tsp walnuts

2 TB ground flax seed

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 tsp cinnamon

1/4 tsp nutmeg

1/2 cup cold water

5 large ice cubes

 

Instructions

Put all ingredients, into the blender. Blend on high speed until smooth and creamy.

 

Serves 2 small servings or 1 large serving.

 

Notes:

  • I experimented with adding ground flax but you can add about a quarter cup of oats to this smoothie also. It is OK, as it adds a chewiness to it. Go ahead and add it if you think you’d like that.
  • You can develop this as a green smoothie too just add 1/2 banana and 1 or 2 handful of spinach to it.
  • Incorporate this shake in as a mid-morning or afternoon snack for a great way to add needed energy to your day.
